Pinkshift Tackle Control and Chaos with Authority Problem

Maryland punk disruptors Pinkshift have returned with a defiant new single, “Authority Problem,” a fiery statement of rebellion, rage, and self-determination that builds on the heavy emotional charge of their latest album Earthkeeper — out now via Hopeless Records.

Blistering and unrelenting, Authority Problem is a pure cathartic release. The band pulls no punches with its anti-establishment message:

“Fuck ICE, fuck the left and the right, fuck the false decorum of rules and laws and executive orders just created to make people feel small and helpless.”

With pounding rhythms, scorched-earth vocals, and no room for compromise, Pinkshift have crafted a song that doesn’t ask for permission — it demands to be heard. Stream HERE

A New Chapter: Earthkeeper

Released earlier this summer, Earthkeeper marked a major artistic leap forward for the trio — vocalist Ashrita Kumar (they/them), guitarist Paul Vallejo (he/him), and drummer Myron Houngbedji (he/him). The album trades pop-punk expectations for towering riffs, existential themes, and a heavier sonic palette that draws from metalcore, hardcore, and post-rock influences.

Kerrang! called it “a significant level-up that’s a complex cocktail of rage, vulnerability, and determination,” while Rock Sound described it as “a collective interrogation of grief, identity, and what it means to belong in a world that feels like it’s falling apart.”

More than just a political record, Earthkeeper is deeply spiritual — rooted in nature, disillusionment, and the desire to find belonging in a chaotic world.
