Ash Launch Fun People with Graham Coxon Ahead of Ad Astra Album

“The title Ad Astra points to ideas that became a big identifier back in 1995… While the optimistic innocence of 1995 might have been tempered by those 30 years, if you look to the stars, you might still feel a glimmer. Of hope.”

Ash Share Live Scala Video for Fun People Featuring Graham Coxon

As they count down to the release of their ninth studio album Ad Astra, Ash have shared a dynamic live video for the track Fun People—featuring Graham Coxon—captured at their sold-out London Scala show. The album is set to arrive on 3rd October 2025 via Fierce Panda Records.

The high-energy clip captures the band in full flight, delivering a frenetic performance of one of the most punchy, eccentric songs in their catalogue—now given extra bite with a guest appearance from Blur’s legendary guitarist. It’s a potent taster of the mood Ash are channelling ahead of Ad Astra, which they describe as a “visual extravaganza” and an album about lift-off, energy, and, above all, optimism.

“Hurtling down the runway as we take off into the sunset – that’s probably the perfect metaphor for where we are right now,” the band shared. “We still haven’t quite recovered from the buzz of those shows.”

Ad Astra: Power-Pop, Reflection, and a Glimmer of Hope

Three decades in and still rocketing forward, Ash’s Ad Astra is a joyful explosion of power-pop urgency and cosmic reflection. From the kinetic blast of Hallion to the melodic shimmer of Which One Do You Want?, the album embraces both the band’s fiery punk beginnings and their more expansive, emotional textures.

Pre-order Ad Astra HERE

Fans can expect acoustic elegance on My Favourite Ghost, the chugging riffs of Keep Dreaming, and Dehumanised, a sonic lunge straight for the gut. Fun People stands out not just for its chaos and energy, but as a celebration of their enduring inventiveness—bolstered here by Coxon’s unmistakable fretwork.

As drummer Rick McMurray puts it:

“The title Ad Astra points to ideas that became a big identifier back in 1995… While the optimistic innocence of 1995 might have been tempered by those 30 years, if you look to the stars, you might still feel a glimmer. Of hope.”
