Blues-rock powerhouse Joe Bonamassa and legendary rocker Sammy Hagar have unleashed a scorching new single, “Fortune Teller Blues.” Now available on all major streaming platforms, this high-voltage collaboration fuses Bonamassa’s searing guitar work with Hagar’s unmistakable, gravel-toned vocals, delivering a track dripping in grit and mystery.
A Bluesy Tale of Fate and Deception
A smouldering blend of blues and hard rock, “Fortune Teller Blues” unravels a dark tale of an ominous encounter with a cryptic fortune teller who refuses to reveal the whole truth. With a relentless groove, simmering tension, and brooding riffs, the song pulses with an eerie, New Orleans-infused energy.
Co-written by Bonamassa, Hagar, and producer Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden, Journey, Black Crowes), the track merges classic blues traditions with a raw, modern edge. Bonamassa’s ferocious solos and Hagar’s fiery vocal delivery elevate it to a true blues-rock juggernaut.
Shirley reflected on its creation:
“Sammy sent us this very rough idea of a blues song while Joe and I were in a studio in Greece. Joe played the entire track on an Ovation acoustic plugged into an overdriven amp, creating a chaotic, heavy, and almost eerie sound. We wanted a different kind of blues feel to complement the lyrics, and we’re all thrilled with how it turned out.”
Hagar himself summed it up simply:
“Holy shit, the thing came out good… the track is a monster!”
Bonamassa’s Monumental Year Continues
This release comes as Bonamassa gears up for a huge year. With his fourth GRAMMY nomination for Blues Deluxe Vol. 2—with winners announced this Sunday—he shows no signs of slowing down.
His Spring 2025 U.S. Tour kicks off on 16 February in Seattle, followed by a massive European run, including five UK dates in April. After that, Bonamassa will embark on the Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea X Cruise, featuring an all-star lineup of blues icons.
