Lake Malice Tear Into Industry Fakery With ‘Nobody Wants To Be You’

“Nobody Wants To Be You is a metal-core weapon, serving as a cathartic scream against industry fakery.”

UK Alt-Metal Firestarters Lake Malice Return With a Vengeance

Lake Malice are swinging hard with their latest Alt-metal assault, ‘Nobody Wants To Be You’ — a venom-laced takedown of vanity, superficiality, and the ever-looming spectre of nepotism in the music industry. Described by the band as a “dark pop-metal takedown,” the track hits like a steel-toed boot to the chest, both stylistically fierce and thematically uncompromising.

Vocalist Alice Guala delivers her most dynamic performance yet, slipping effortlessly between razor-edged melody and guttural fury, unleashing pure disdain at a system where merit often takes a backseat to connections. Guitarist Blake Cornwall co-produced the track with Jon Cass, with mixing by Carl Bown and mastering by Ste Kerry, resulting in a polished yet feral edge for the single.

Already a favourite in the band’s high-octane live sets, the single comes with a stylised visual directed by Zak Pinchin, complete with the backup dancers who’ve become a staple of Lake Malice’s summer shows. It’s a dark, theatrical snapshot of a band doubling down on creativity and ferocity.

With a summer that saw them storm through Slam Dunk, 2000trees, Wacken Open Air and RADAR, Lake Malice are now set to support Enter Shikari across UK and Europe this October, followed by a run with Japanese genre-blenders Hanabie in November. Their own headline date in Southampton is tucked into the mix, and more festival appearances are already on the cards for early 2026.

Following this year’s equally unhinged ‘Scatterbrain’, Lake Malice are firmly planting their flag as one of the UK’s most innovative forces in heavy music.
