Mayday Parade Drop Sad — Second Instalment of 20th Anniversary Album Trilogy
Beloved emo mainstays Mayday Parade are celebrating two decades together with the release of Sad, the second instalment in their three-part album trilogy. Out today (October 3, 2025), Sad follows this past spring’s Sweet and precedes the third chapter due in 2026. Together, the trilogy marks the band’s first self-released project since their landmark 2006 debut EP Tales Told By Dead Friends, famously sold from Vans Warped Tour parking lots.
Focus Track: “Promises”
The emotional centrepiece of Sad is “Promises,” penned by drummer/vocalist Jake Bundrick. The song’s lyrics dive deep into a period of loss and uncertainty:
“I was on a ledge and in a terrible situation life threw at me with something I loved… The verses are about the morning it all went south. I haven’t been the same since,” Bundrick explains.
Sad also includes the previously released singles “One Day at a Time” and “Under My Sweater.” Produced once again with longtime collaborators Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, the album blends atmosphere and introspection with the sharp hooks, soaring choruses, and raw honesty that have defined Mayday Parade for 20 years.
A Legacy Still Growing
With over 1.43 billion streams, multiple platinum and gold singles, and a discography that helped shape modern emo and alt-rock, Mayday Parade show no signs of slowing. Sad arrives as the band kicks off a massive North American tour with All Time Low, followed by international dates in early 2026 and a return to the When We Were Young Festival this fall.
