The Mission Announce Line-Up For 40th Anniversary London Shows
The Mission have revealed the full supporting line-up for their four-night 40th anniversary residency at the O2 Forum Kentish Town, London this November, celebrating their landmark debut album God’s Own Medicine and the wider sweep of their career.
Released in November 1986, God’s Own Medicine remains one of the defining records of the ‘80s alternative and gothic rock movement. With its spiralling guitars, dramatic atmosphere and sweeping emotional charge, the album helped establish The Mission as one of the era’s most magnetic and flamboyant forces.
Formed by Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams after their departure from The Sisters of Mercy in 1985, alongside Simon Hinkler and Mick Brown, The Mission swiftly became a fixture of the weekly music press and a major live draw. Songs including ‘Wasteland’, ‘Severina’, ‘Garden Of Delight’, ‘Stay With Me’ and ‘Love Me To Death’ helped carve out a sound that was both mystical and muscular, romantic and thunderous.
Four nights of history, deep cuts and fan favourites
Across the four London shows, The Mission will revisit God’s Own Medicine in full, dig into albums including Children, Carved In Sand, Masque, Aura and Another Fall From Grace, and close the run with a fan-requested set titled Kith & Kin: By Request.
The support bill brings together old friends and new blood. Claytown Troupe and Power Of Dreams both shared stages with The Mission in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, while Mouth Ulcers and SpaceAcre represent the kind of fresh energy Wayne Hussey remains eager to champion.

Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival
Before the London residency, The Mission will headline both nights of Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival in Whitby on Friday 30 October and Saturday 31 October, performing different celebratory anniversary sets each night. Both shows sold out within hours of being announced.
The band are also set to release brand new music in 2027, with further announcements still to come.
