Skunk Anansie give Meltdown a club-facing overhaul in Blackhill remix video
Skunk Anansie have released a new video for Blackhill’s remix of Meltdown, recasting the sparse closing track from The Painful Truth as a more driving, club-leaning cut.
Originally built around a minimalist piano and Skin’s exposed vocal, Meltdown takes on a markedly different shape in the hands of Blackhill, the project of producer Nick Sheldon. The new visual, shot and edited by India Fleming, moves between isolated portraits of the band and backstage footage filmed at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow.

Skin said: “Meltdown is this deeply heartbreaking song about isolation. It’s one of the few Skunk songs that doesn’t have a beat, making it a perfect end to the album. We wanted to do a version that grooved a bit, so we called up our friend Nick Sheldon [Blackhill] to add that flavour and we love what he’s done, hope you do too.”
The video arrives after a busy run of summer shows, including a co-headline UK tour with Garbage, a Bearded Theory appearance and a Wembley Stadium support slot with My Chemical Romance. The band now head across Europe for a run taking in festivals, headline dates and a pair of Croatian shows.
