Electron recruit Benji Webbe for new single Taken

Electron join forces with Skindred’s Benji Webbe on Taken ahead of October album

Electron will release new single Taken, featuring guest vocals from Skindred frontman Benji Webbe, on 10 September. The track is the latest preview of the London-via-Portugal duo’s second album, Is This Worth Living For?, due on 2 October.

Built around dense riffs, pounding percussion and shadowy electronic textures, Taken places Jason Payne’s aggrieved vocals and screams alongside Webbe’s unmistakable ragga-metal delivery. The song addresses the point at which everyday pressure turns into outright frustration.

Payne says: “Sometimes you just have one of those days where it feels like the everything weighs too much on you. You’re angry, annoyed, and it feels like the world is out to get you. This is just us having fun and raising our middle finger to the world and all its bullshit.”

A record shaped by pressure and isolation

Produced by Grammy-nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda, Is This Worth Living For? finds Payne and bassist/vocalist Joanna Hyde working through themes of conformity, isolation and the pursuit of impossible perfection. The record draws together post-grunge, metalcore and alternative influences across a set of songs framed by heavy electronics and rawer lyrical concerns.

The album includes earlier singles Trap, Lie To Me, Toxic, Echoes Of A Dying World and You Betray, alongside the new Webbe collaboration and three live recordings.

Electron will take Is This Worth Living For? on the road with headline dates across the UK, followed by an appearance at Germany’s Mosh’N’May Festival and a slot at Call Of The Wild Festival in Lincolnshire.
