KIDPUNK mark Easy Life Records signing with new single Surrender
KIDPUNK have signed to Easy Life Records and marked the move with their hard-hitting new single Surrender.
The Newcastle punk rock four-piece’s first release for the label, Surrender channels the band’s live-wire energy into a blunt, bruising track about refusing to accept defeat when heartbreak or disappointment closes in.
Vocalist Shaun Wright said: “Surrender is a song that can be interpreted in many ways, but to me it’s a metaphor for those moments when defeat or heartbreak feels inevitable, but there’s something more honourable going down swinging rather than surrendering without a fight.”
A new label home for the Newcastle four-piece
The signing follows a run of independent releases from the band, including two EPs and a succession of singles. Their BLACKEYE EP has passed one million streams, while clips from the group have also found an audience across social media.
Originally launched by Wright as a solo project, KIDPUNK developed into a full band with drummer Daniel Thompson, bassist Brandon Proctor and guitarist Wade Currin. The group have built their reputation through DIY shows and support slots around the UK, alongside an annual hometown headline date in Newcastle.
