Monkie Mind unleash Ignite in live video filmed at Glasgow’s Bloc+ venue
MONKIE MIND have released their new single Ignite, a fast-moving blast of melodic punk accompanied by a live-shot video filmed at Glasgow’s Bloc+ venue.
Out now through Canadian imprint People of Punk Rock Records, Ignite captures the Newcastle trio in full flight, with the clip leaning into the sweat, speed and close-quarter force of a club performance rather than polished studio spectacle.

The single is the first release to feature bassist David Randle, who joined vocalist and guitarist Lee Wright and drummer Martin Paynton in 2026. Randle stepped into the line-up following the departure of Michael Olga Algar.
A hook-heavy punk charge
Built around tight rhythms and an emphatic singalong chorus, Ignite draws on the band’s melodic instincts while retaining the rougher edge of their live set.
Wright says: “The goal has always been to make music with widespread appeal and songs that are super catchy without losing that raw, energetic punk edge. Ignite encapsulates everything we love about melodic punk—big sing along choruses, tight rhythms, and pure energy.”
The Bloc+ footage gives the track a suitably unfussy setting, documenting the trio on stage as the song barrels forward. Watch the video here.

More releases on the way
Ignite leads a planned run of releases ahead of a new full-length album, currently slated for 2027. The band’s self-titled debut album arrived in 2021.
