DITZ Unleash 9-Minute Epic with ‘Don Enzo Magic Carpet Salesman’

“The song reflects my frustration with AI art — the first part reacting to the issue, the second written from the AI’s perspective, and the final section representing the last gasp of real art.”

DITZ Return with Ferocious New Single ‘Don Enzo Magic Carpet Salesman’

Brighton noise-rock outfit DITZ have dropped their most ambitious track to date, the sprawling and unpredictable ‘Don Enzo Magic Carpet Salesman’, backed by the glitchy, Portishead-inspired B-side ‘Kalimba Song’. The pair of tracks mark the band’s first new material since the release of their acclaimed album Never Exhale earlier this year.

The new single clocks in at nine minutes and unfolds in three intense, shape-shifting parts. Vocalist C.A. Francis reveals the concept was sparked by a demo from guitarist Jack Looker, which ballooned into a multipart odyssey after trading ideas back and forth. Thematically, Francis tackles the rising dominance of AI-generated art, exploring it from multiple perspectives — human frustration, AI narration, and the final breath of real creativity.

A Conceptual Surge of Noise and Texture

“Don Enzo began as a demo Jack Looker made after our touring wrapped early in the year,” Francis explains. “The song reflects my frustration with AI art — the first part reacting to the issue, the second written from the AI’s perspective, and the final section representing the last gasp of real art before being overwhelmed by artificial output.”

B-side ‘Kalimba Song’ offers a contrasting vibe — a woozy, exploratory track born from a hungover writing session at 17b Studio in Brighton. Built on spontaneous layering and downtempo moods inspired by Massive Attack and Portishead, the track features a kalimba sample lifted from a moment of casual experimentation.

Vinyl Incoming + Early Access on Tour

Both tracks will feature on a limited edition 12” vinyl due 28th November via City Slang Records, with early copies available exclusively on tour ahead of the official release. The artwork and physical edition hint at the band’s deepening visual and sonic experimentation.

DITZ continue to carve a name for themselves in the noise-rock scene, with their explosive live energy channelled directly into this new material. Praise for Never Exhale included glowing reviews from DIY, Stereogum, The Skinny, and inclusion in Stereogum’s Best 50 Albums of 2025 So Far.
