Fantazmaz Bring the Noise with New Punk Blast ‘Distortion’

“The album is angry and frustrated, pretty much because we don’t see a future… it’s right there for everyone to see.” — Thami, Fantazmaz

Fantazmaz Fire Off Blistering New Single Distortion Ahead of Debut Album

Brazilian punk anarchists Fantazmaz have unleashed their furious new single Distortion, a one-minute sonic explosion that lands just ahead of their self-titled debut album, out July 4th via Ghetto Bitch Records.

Following the savage thirty-second statement Dead On The Way Home, Distortion doubles the length but loses none of the ferocity. Clocking in at a lean 67 seconds, the track thrashes through themes of post-lockdown disillusionment, powered by a warped dark-waltz groove that pulses with raw urgency. Singer Thami tears through the streets of London’s Barbican in the chaotic music video, a visual extension of the track’s unfiltered rage.

Distortion is exactly what it sounds like,” says the band. “A mangled reflection of the world we’re stuck in.”

Punk Roots, New Blood

Formed in 2019 by vocalist Thami and guitarist Raf Oliver, Fantazmaz solidified their line-up with bassist Chokito and former U.K. Subs drummer Jamie Oliver. Since relocating to the UK, they’ve quickly earned a reputation for frantic live shows and genre-bending punk that blends 80s hardcore with Brazilian influences, heavy rhythm shifts, and blistering social commentary.

Their debut album, recorded in just two days at London’s Monolith Studios, is set to ignite underground scenes with tracks like Scars Of Downtown, Corporate Behave, and Just Before Hell Comes Around. From Dead Kennedys-inspired anthems to bossa nova-infused chaos, Fantazmaz deliver a collection that refuses to sit still or shut up.
