Grade 2 Return With Hopeful New Single Better Today

“Better Today talks about the damage that depression can have on a relationship. It contrasts between the recent past of being at rock bottom to a now hopeful present.” – Jack Chatfield

Grade 2 Share New Single “Better Today” Ahead Of Talk About It

Isle of Wight punk trio Grade 2 have released their new single “Better Today”, offering another glimpse into their forthcoming fourth album Talk About It, due out April 3 via Hellcat Records.

The track explores the difficult impact depression can have on relationships while also reflecting on the fragile but hopeful process of recovery. Built around the band’s sharp, melodic punk style, “Better Today” contrasts moments of personal collapse with the gradual rebuilding that follows.

Guitarist Jack Chatfield explains that the song reflects on both accountability and growth, highlighting the emotional fallout of struggling with mental health while trying to maintain relationships.

A Defining Moment For The Band

Formed over a decade ago as school friends, bassist Sid Ryan, guitarist Jack Chatfield, and drummer Jacob Hull have steadily carved out a reputation for honest songwriting and relentless touring.

Their upcoming album Talk About It captures a pivotal period for the band. The record reflects years spent navigating the realities of life on the road while maintaining connections back home — experiences that have shaped both their outlook and their songwriting.
