HotWax Drop Fierce New Single “I Wanna Be A Doll” Ahead of Debut Album
HotWax, hailed as “Britain’s most thrilling and fiercely confident new rockers” by NME, have released their new single “I Wanna Be A Doll”. The track, steeped in grungy blues energy, is the second single from their debut album Hot Shock, set to drop March 7th via Marathon Artists. Fans can catch the band live in a series of instore shows across the UK throughout March.
“A Song About Self-Awareness and Destructive Traits”
Singer Tallulah Sim-Savage explains the origins of “I Wanna Be A Doll”:
“It’s a song where I am writing about myself from someone else’s point of view, being self-aware of my bad—sometimes destructive—traits.”
The track’s raw honesty, combined with the signature energy HotWax brings to their live performances, has already made it a standout during recent support slots with The Libertines and Warmduscher.
A Debut Album That Captures Live Energy
Hot Shock is produced by Catherine Marks (Boygenius, Wolf Alice) and Steph Marziano (Picture Parlour, Cassandra Jenkins). Recorded live at London’s legendary RAK Studios, the album captures the sweaty, electric energy of a HotWax gig. The band also collaborated with Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint at her Joshua Tree studio during their US tour.
The result is an album designed for a crowd, balancing bold rock energy with moments of introspection, written during the chaos of life on the road.
