The end of an era is near — and Megadeth aren’t going quietly.
Today (November 14), the thrash metal legends have unveiled I Don’t Care, the latest single and video from their forthcoming self-titled album, which also marks their final studio release, set to drop on January 23, 2026.

Directed by Keith J Leman, the video fuses skate culture with electrifying live performance visuals, mirroring the raw, unfiltered energy of the track itself. I Don’t Care follows October’s lead single, Tipping Point, building anticipation for what is already being called one of the most important metal releases of the decade.

Mustaine: “If We Had the Balls, We’d Say It More Often”

“I know you want to,” says frontman Dave Mustaine. “Deep down inside, if we had the balls, we would tell more people ‘I don’t care’ more often.” His signature bite is all over the track, with Mustaine also revealing that the riff had been in his head since The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! sessions.

“There is the main rhythm riff, then a very deliberate down-picking part, and finally octave chords with jump picking,” he explains. “The soloing and back and forth between me and Teemu [Mäntysaari] is magnificent.”

The Final Countdown: Megadeth (2026)

Set for release via Tradecraft and Frontiers Label Group’s new BLKIIBLK imprint, Megadeth will be the band’s 17th and final studio album, bringing to a close over four decades of metal mastery. With more than 50 million records sold, a GRAMMY® win, and an unmatched influence on heavy music, this album marks the culmination of an unparalleled legacy.

Alongside Mustaine and Mäntysaari, the current lineup features James LoMenzo on bass and Dirk Verbeuren on drums. Fans can also expect a reimagined version of Metallica’s ‘Ride The Lightning’, co-written by Mustaine, Hetfield, Ulrich, and Burton, as a special bonus track.

A Farewell Tour and Memoir On the Horizon
