Metallica Announce Life Burns Faster Residency at Las Vegas Sphere
After months of rumours and rising anticipation, Metallica have confirmed they’ll take over Sphere this autumn with an eight-night residency dubbed Life Burns Faster.
The run kicks off October 1, 2026, bringing the band’s now-signature No Repeat Weekend format to Las Vegas. Across four two-night stands, no song will be repeated between Thursday and Saturday shows — a tradition that began with the launch of the M72 World Tour in 2023 and has since become a rallying point for diehards chasing deep cuts and live staples alike.
No Repeat Weekends, Reinvented
Sphere’s immersive technology promises to push Metallica’s live show into uncharted territory. The venue’s wraparound LED display, hyper-precise immersive sound system and multi-sensory 4D capabilities will amplify the band’s seismic attack in ways even the Snake Pit faithful haven’t experienced.
Drummer and co-founder Lars Ulrich recalls seeing Sphere’s potential firsthand. “About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ’23, I thought, ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’ This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting.”

With over 125 million albums sold and more than four million fans already packing out dates on the current M72 run, Metallica remain restless — still searching for new ways to make the ground shake.

Beyond the Black Album
From Kill ’Em All through 2023’s 72 Seasons, Metallica’s catalogue has always thrived in the live arena. Sphere’s digital canvas offers the chance to reimagine that history in panoramic scale — a collision of analogue muscle and futuristic spectacle.
For a band more than four decades deep, Life Burns Faster doesn’t feel like a victory lap. It feels like another evolution.
