Rancid Pays Tribute to Motörhead with Blistering Take on Sex & Death

“It was the one band we could all agree on. The one band that was truly ours.”

Rancid Release Explosive Sex & Death Cover from Punk Tribute to Motörhead

Punk icons Rancid have just dropped their riotous take on Sex & Death, a deep cut from Motörhead’s 1996 album Overnight Sensation, as part of the upcoming tribute compilation Killed By Deaf – A Punk Tribute to Motörhead. The record is set for release on 31st October 2025 via LP, CD, and digital formats.

Alongside the single, a new lyric video is available to stream, giving fans a first taste of what this fierce punk homage has in store. Pre-orders for the compilation are now live at motorhead.lnk.to/killedbydeafpr.

“It’s the most Rancid-style song that Motörhead did… It’s close enough to a song we would write,” says guitarist Lars Frederiksen, highlighting the Ramones influence in Lemmy’s writing. “Motörhead doing the Ramones. That’s what I hear.”

A Unified Punk Salute to the Loudest Band in the World

Killed By Deaf is a blistering love letter to Motörhead from the punk scene that revered them. Featuring a stacked lineup of legends and newcomers alike, the compilation includes covers from Pennywise, Lagwagon, GBH, FEAR, The Bronx, and more. It’s a chaotic, reverent, and unmistakably loud celebration of the band that bridged punk and metal like no other.

Closing the set is a very special inclusion: a previously unheard version of The Damned’s ‘Neat Neat Neat’ featuring none other than Lemmy himself alongside The Damned — the only non-Motörhead track on the compilation and a fitting nod to Lemmy’s deep punk roots.
