Salisbury punk rockers CARSICK are stirring up the music scene with their latest single, ‘Gig Tax,’ released on 1st May 2024 via Alcopop! Records. This fierce track delves deep into the harsh realities facing emerging bands, framed by the group’s sharp indie punk sound.
Produced by the esteemed Sam Winfield and Tom Millar at Studio 91 in Newbury, ‘Gig Tax’ is an unapologetic anthem targeting the less savoury aspects of the music industry. The band articulates a vivid portrayal of the challenges encountered by those climbing the ranks in the UK’s bustling music circuit.
CARSICK comments on the inspiration behind the song: “’Gig Tax’ is our heartfelt tribute to the trials and tribulations of being a young(ish) band on the great British touring circuit. We’ve seen it all—from dodgy local promoters to ego-fueled backstage dramas. This song is for those who face these obstacles every day.”
Adding to their dynamic year, CARSICK has also released their debut EP, Drunk Hymns, now available in digital format and a special 12” vinyl edition. Following their successful single ‘Anaconda Frank,’ which gained traction on BBC Radio 1 and Radio X, the band continues to make significant waves across the UK and beyond.
Don’t miss the opportunity to catch CARSICK live as they head out on a string of headline shows and festival appearances throughout the summer of 2024. The tour promises to deliver high-energy performances and a chance to experience their new material firsthand.
