ten56. Unleash Haunting New Video for ‘IO’ from Their Most Personal Album Yet

“I’m not perfect, but I’m doing my best and I have my boys by my side. Love yourselves.” — Aaron Matts

ten56. Close a Chapter with Devastating New Music Video for ‘IO’

French industrial deathcore juggernauts ten56. have shared a deeply personal and visually arresting music video for ‘IO’, the title track from their recently released album via Out of Line Music. The release comes off the back of a successful headline tour across the UK and Europe, and rounds out a record already being hailed as their most emotionally charged to date.

Vulnerability in Full View

In stark contrast to the rest of IO’s suffocating sonic weight, the closing track strips things back — opting instead for lo-fi textures, ambient guitars, and haunting electronic undercurrents. It serves as both a sonic outlier and emotional linchpin for the record, documenting frontman Aaron Matts’ battle with addiction and his path toward healing.

Shot during his stay in a rehabilitation centre between tour cycles, the music video is raw and unfiltered. Matts bares his soul in what he describes as a “very vulnerable and uncomfortable” period of his life. “This track came at a pivotal time for me,” he explains. “I hope it can eventually help anyone else experiencing something similar in their lives.”

The song — and the video — mark the emotional endpoint of an album that has journeyed through trauma, rage, disassociation and, ultimately, a fractured sort of hope.

IO: A Descent and a Resurrection

IO, the full-length follow-up to ten56.’s Downer EPs, is a complex and punishing record, but one that trades brutality for honesty at every turn. From the savage breakdowns of ‘Snapped Neck’ to the suffocating darkness of ‘I Know Where You Sleep’, it’s a release driven by psychological weight rather than pure sonic aggression.

ten56. – IO

Matts has described the album as “a journey that starts from being taken advantage of, through revenge and self-doubt, before closing with self-reflection and revelation.” It’s in that final act — the title track — that the band reaches its most human and harrowing moment yet.

As Matts told Kerrang! in a recent interview, creating IO became a vital part of his recovery: “The reason why I started ten56. was to talk about these things that I have on my mind, and unburden myself of them.”

More Than a Band

ten56. have carved a reputation for their uncompromising approach to heavy music. The Paris-based quintet — rounded out by Quentin Godet and Luka Rozaka on guitars, Steeves Hostin on bass, and Arnaud Verrier on drums — have grown rapidly in only five years, playing major festivals and supporting acts like While She Sleeps, Northlane and Ladmvrks.

But IO is no mere next step — it’s a defining leap forward. And with this final visual, ten56. aren’t just ending an album cycle. They’re opening a dialogue.
