The Damned Unleash a Psychedelic Storm with “See Emily Play”

The Damned return with their second single from upcoming covers album Not Like Everybody Else, a striking rendition of Pink Floyd’s kaleidoscopic classic “See Emily Play.” Out now via earMUSIC, the track blends the band’s fiery punk roots with the swirling whimsy of 60s psychedelia. Sung with gusto by guitarist Captain Sensible, it’s a vivid reinterpretation that honours the original while bursting with the raw energy The Damned have never lost.

Due 23rd January 2026, Not Like Everybody Else is a heartfelt tribute to the band’s founding guitarist Brian James, who passed away in March this year. Recorded in a blistering five-day session at Revolver Studio in Los Angeles, the album marks the return of original drummer Rat Scabies to the studio lineup for the first time in four decades.

The tracklist dives deep into the band’s musical DNA, with covers of The Rolling Stones, The Animals, The Kinks, and more. Notably, the album closes with “The Last Time” by The Rolling Stones—featuring Brian James himself—recorded during his final live performances with the band and now remixed for this moving farewell.

Special Covers Shows Announced

To celebrate the release, The Damned will perform three intimate shows early next year, showcasing tracks from Not Like Everybody Else alongside legendary covers from their storied history.

Tour Dates:
28 January 2026 – Albert Hall, Manchester
1 February 2026 – Bataclan, Paris
3 February 2026 – Essigfabrik, Cologne

These shows promise to be more than just concerts—they are tributes to a fallen comrade, a shared history, and the enduring power of punk.

Looking ahead, the band will also headline a 50th anniversary blowout at OVO Arena Wembley on 11 April 2026, with support from The Loveless (featuring Marc Almond), Peter Hook And The Light, and The Courettes.
