Skunk Anansie turn Meltdown into a club-edged Blackhill remix as UK dates continue
Skunk Anansie have released a new Blackhill remix of Meltdown, reworking the closing track from their Top 10 album The Painful Truth into a more rhythm-driven cut.
The original version of Meltdown closed the record as a sparse, piano-led piece built around Skin’s vocal. For the new version, the band brought in Nick Sheldon, working as Blackhill, to push the song towards the dancefloor without losing its sense of isolation and emotional weight.

Skin said: “Meltdown is this deeply heartbreaking song about isolation. It’s one of the few Skunk songs that doesn’t have a beat making it a perfect end to the album. We wanted to do a version that grooved a bit so we called up our friend Nick Sheldon [Blackhill] to add that flavour and we love what he’s done, hope you do too.”
The remix arrives on Juneteenth, shifting the track from minimalist balladry into a brighter, club-facing form. Listen to the remix here and watch the visualiser here.

The Painful Truth gets a zoetrope vinyl edition
The band have also confirmed a limited-edition zoetrope vinyl pressing of The Painful Truth, due for release on 9 October via FLG Records. The album, released at the end of May, includes Meltdown as its closing track.
