Creeper turn the camera on their fans in Parasite video ahead of October UK dates
Creeper have shared a new video for Parasite, the grandly theatrical cut from Sanguivore II: Mistress Of Death, ahead of the band’s Off With Their Heads! UK tour next month.
Directed around footage captured during the band’s previous Sanguitour run, the clip is titled For The Lovers and shifts the spotlight away from the stage. Rather than focusing on the band’s gothic live spectacle, videographer Harry Steel turns his lens towards the crowd: fans singing every word, dressed in elaborate costumes and immersed in Creeper’s vampire mythology.
The release follows a teaser in which Steel appeared in a hostage-style video, suggesting he had spent the previous tour filming the audience instead of the band. The finished Parasite clip frames that decision as a tribute to the audience culture that has grown around the Sanguivore era.
Frontman William Von Ghould said: “We realised pretty quickly that the real drama of these shows was happening in front of the band, in the crowd, rather than onstage. So Harry turned the camera around and focused on the people watching us.
“The video is really a love letter to the fans of this vampire era. The costumes, the dedication and the emotional connection people have with these songs have made this whole world feel far bigger than we ever could have imagined, and Harry has captured that perfectly.”
London show to become Creeper’s first full concert film
The Off With Their Heads! tour will take Creeper through Cardiff, London, Manchester and Glasgow in October. The 9 October show at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town will be filmed by Steel for the band’s first full-length live concert film.
Von Ghould added: “We’re also very excited to announce that Harry will be making a brand new full-length Creeper concert film. This tour is set to be the most ambitious of our career, and we’re thrilled to have Harry there to capture it.
“We’ve never made a full live film before, so this feels like a pretty special opportunity to document this era properly.”
