Fake Names unveil If You Could See Me Today and confirm 2027 London show
Fake Names have shared If You Could See Me Today, the latest single from their forthcoming album Punk Ruins, which arrives on 23 October via Epitaph Records.
The new track finds the punk collective easing a bright, jangling edge into its hard-wired post-hardcore framework. Crackling guitars and a gritty bassline carry Dennis Lyxzén’s melodic vocal through a song concerned with the remnants of a distant past, while the accompanying video is now available to watch online.
No guardrails in the writing room
Recorded at Chicago’s Electrical Audio with producer Matthew Bernhardt, Punk Ruins brings together Brian Baker, Lyxzén, Michael Hampton, Johnny Temple and drummer Mario Rubalcaba. The record follows the group’s 2023 release Expendables.
Baker said of the band’s approach: “There are no guardrails or perceived direction here and this just comes out. This album is a collective expression, and a lot of the fun is seeing how the hell it is going to turn out.”
Lyxzén added: “I think that a lot of these songs give me an opportunity to sing in a way that nowadays I usually don’t. It’s always cool to be able to experiment with your voice, melodic sensibility and language.”
Alongside If You Could See Me Today, the 12-track record includes the groove-led Diamond Buzz, while the title track leans into the D.C. hardcore charge that runs through the band’s collective history.

European dates include London’s Underworld
Fake Names will take Punk Ruins on the road in early 2027, beginning in Umeå on 26 January before heading across mainland Europe and finishing with a UK date at London’s Underworld on 7 February.
