Senses unpack intrusive cycles and self-discovery on new single patterns
senses have released new single patterns via Hopeless Records, arriving as the Los Angeles duo continue their UK dates supporting NOAHFINNCE.
The track finds Madison Taylor and Nick Sampson turning inward, tracing the difficult process of recognising recurring thoughts and behaviours while trying to step outside them. Musically, its dramatic shifts mirror the unsettled headspace at the centre of the song, moving between tense passages and more expansive, melodic release.
“Patterns is very much a song of self-awareness and discovery,” the band explain. “It explores the process of understanding how your brain works – and knowing that it can often feel all over the place and hard to control.
“This feeling is really emphasised by the dramatic sonic changes throughout, taking you through the experience of feeling stuck in these pre-existing patterns, and how it feels to try to break free of them. We’ve struggled and felt overwhelmed with breaking this cycle many times in our own lives, and it’s definitely not easy to overcome.
“This song is that real-time awareness of the inner workings of your brain, and the process of overcoming these obstacles.”

A restless new cut from the Hopeless Records duo
patterns follows the duo’s emotionally direct approach, pairing candid lyricism with a punchy alternative sound that pulls from emo and pop punk. The accompanying video captures that sense of inner turbulence through sharply changing visual moods. Watch the video here.
The single is also available to stream now via the band’s official release link. Stream patterns here.
