Chloe Star embraces the chaos of situationships on new single Games

Chloe Star has released her new single Games, a sharp, playful pop-punk cut built around the charged uncertainty of a relationship where both sides know the rules are shifting.

Arriving on 31 July, the track finds Star leaning into the rush of risk rather than trying to tidy it up. Its central refrain is blunt by design: “You’re playing games, I’m playing games – we’re both good at it.”

A song for the thrill of the unknown

Star describes Games as a song shaped by past situationships and the complicated appeal of not knowing where something is heading.

Games makes me feel good; it makes me feel like a bad bitch,” she says. “The story behind it is that I’ve been in so many relationships where I’ve been trying to figure out how to be in a relationship and I’ve been the bad guy, and I’ve played games.

Chloe Star – Games

“I’ve been so upfront in these past situationships that we’re playing games. It keeps it exciting and fun, and nobody’s getting hurt. It’s just like: you’re playing games, I’m playing games – we’re both good at it. Let’s run it for however long we can and see what the f*ck happens.”

The single opens with an urgent pull before moving through flirtation, bravado and a sense of self-aware disorder. Star says the directness of the chorus was intentional, while the verses take a more mischievous route.

“The chorus of Games is as straightforward as can be,” she adds. “It’s like: baby, I’m good at games. When I’m tapped into that zone, I am f*cking good at games, and I will play a game with you, and it’ll be a lot of fun.

“The verses are very playful. It’s as if this girl and I are out and I’m being crazy. I’m not only playing games in a situationship, but I’m playing games in life – it’s just fun, fun, playful. I sprinkled some ego because it’s Chloe Star.”

Games follows a period of live activity for Star, including her first US headline tour and a packed London show earlier this year, where the set featured fan favourites TNT, Emergency Contact and I Didn’t Wanna Say Goodbye.
