Flamin’ Groovies plot 50th anniversary UK tour for Shake Some Action

“The Flamin’ Groovies may be the greatest rock and roll band to ever come out of San Francisco,” as Rolling Stone once put it.

Flamin’ Groovies line up September UK dates for Shake Some Action anniversary

Flamin’ Groovies have announced a September 2026 UK tour marking 50 years since Shake Some Action, the album and title track that became one of the sharpest calling cards in their catalogue.

Fronted by founding member Cyril Jordan, the San Francisco band will play five dates across the country, with the set expected to draw on material from throughout their career as well as songs from the anniversary release.

The tour arrives as a rare UK visit for a group whose reach has run far beyond cult status. The band’s blend of British Invasion melody, garage-rock bite and radio-ready hooks helped set the template for later waves of power pop and punk-minded guitar music.

That legacy has long been tied to the mid-1970s run that produced Shake Some Action, Flamin’ Groovies Now and Jumpin’ In The Night. The title track from Shake Some Action has remained one of the band’s most enduring songs, a bright and jangling reminder of how tightly they could lock swagger and finesse together.

The new dates also nod to one of the group’s most storied UK appearances: their 1976 Roundhouse show with Ramones and The Stranglers, a bill that has often been cited as a key moment in the build-up to Britain’s punk era.
