Guerrilla Teens bring raw punk ’n’ roll bite to new EP Sympathy for the Decibel
Guerrilla Teens have released their new EP, Sympathy for the Decibel, through Sonic Jett Records.
The Portland five-piece’s latest release leans into the jagged overlap between garage rock, raw ’70s punk and no-frills rock ’n’ roll, with the title track joined by Ghosts of New Orleans and Spider Bouquet among its key cuts.

Led by longtime songwriting partners Scott “Deluxe” Drake and Jeff Fieldhouse, the band continue to work with a sound shaped by sharp twin-guitar riffs, darker melodic turns and hooks that do not sand down the rough edges. Saul Koll, Tim Connolly and Anna Andersen complete the current line-up, with Andersen’s backing vocals adding another layer to the band’s toughened-up garage-punk attack.
A partnership still wired for volume
Drake and Fieldhouse’s writing partnership reaches back to their time in The Humpers, but Guerrilla Teens have increasingly established their own identity across recent releases. Their 2023 record Under the Dagger and 2025 follow-up The Monkey’s Paw pushed the group further towards a darker, more melodic strain of punk ’n’ roll without losing its bar-room stomp.
Sympathy for the Decibel continues that thread, drawing on the abrasion of The Stooges and New York Dolls alongside the high-energy garage-punk pulse associated with Radio Birdman. It is music made for a packed room, a failing PA and the kind of guitar volume that turns conversation into a lost cause.
The title track has also arrived with a new video. Watch the video for Sympathy for the Decibel here.
