Mimi Barks Unveils Ophelia Video as Dreamstate of Fear Arrives

“Like Ophelia beneath the river’s surface, it is a surrender to the illusion and a reclamation of the power.”

Mimi Barks shares Ophelia video alongside new Dreamstate of Fear EP and UK tour dates

Mimi Barks has released the official video for Ophelia, the closing track from her newly arrived seven-song EP Dreamstate of Fear.

Released through her own DEATHKISS Records imprint, the record follows the earlier singles Dreamstate of Hell, Jericho and Power durch Verrat. It continues Barks’ self-styled Doom Trap approach, where metal guitars, industrial abrasion and trap beats collide with vocals that swing between wounded reflection and full-force confrontation.

A submerged final chapter

Directed by Tima Kasatkin, whose previous work includes videos for Space of Variations and Jinjer, the Ophelia clip was filmed in Košice, Slovakia. The visual turns the song’s themes of loss, surrender and self-reclamation into a stark closing image for the EP.

Barks says: “Ophelia the single that completes my EP Dreamstate of Fear, which is out now. A spell of losing yourself inside someone else’s reality, the quiet disappearance of the self. Like Ophelia beneath the river’s surface, it is a surrender to the illusion and a reclamation of the power.”

Inside Dreamstate of Fear

Across Dreamstate of Fear, Barks addresses collapse, betrayal, transformation and the attempt to claw back a sense of self. The seven-track release moves through some of her heaviest material to date, with Ophelia positioned as its more exposed and emotionally raw final statement.
