Saxon bring back their giant Eagle for Gods of Thunder UK and Ireland dates

Saxon have announced the first UK and Ireland leg of their Gods of Thunder World Tour, with the band set to wheel out their legendary 30-foot mechanised Eagle for most of the run. The Castles & Eagles production will accompany the dates, with Cardiff the only exception because of venue restrictions.

The Eagle has been part of the Saxon story since the early 1980s, originally built for the Denim and Leather tour by Midlands company LSD using airport runway landing lights. It later became the inspiration for the title of The Eagle Has Landed, the band’s 1982 live album, and remains one of heavy metal’s more outlandish stage props.

“We wanted to make the Gods of Thunder UK & Ireland tour extra special,” says founding member and frontman Biff Byford. “And what better way than to fly our beloved Saxon Eagle again… Get ready for take-off!”

The run arrives with a new world tour on the horizon and a 25th studio album due on Silver Lining Music in early 2027.

Tickets go on sale on Friday 26 June at 9am, with full ticket details available at saxon747.com.
