Tame Impala lead Sumerian’s all-star Smashing Pumpkins tribute
Sumerian Records has announced Sending Hearts To All My Dearies – A Tribute To The Smashing Pumpkins, a 15-track covers album built around The Smashing Pumpkins’ catalogue. The digital release arrives on 14 August 2026, followed by a deluxe 2xLP vinyl edition on 16 October 2026, with multiple multi-colour variants scheduled for the physical run. The project has been co-signed and personally titled by Billy Corgan, taking its name from a lyric in Mayonaise. It pulls together artists from across alternative rock, metal and electronic music to revisit songs from every corner of the band’s back catalogue, from Bullet With Butterfly Wings and 1979 to Jellybelly and Ava Adore.
Tame Impala put a haze over Hummer
Tame Impala lead the first taste of the compilation with a new version of Hummer, taken from The Smashing Pumpkins’ 1993 album Siamese Dream. Kevin Parker’s version leans into the original’s psych-rock drift, stretching out the textures with soft-focus vocals, layered guitars and a murky pulse that keeps the song recognisably intact while shifting its shape.
“Siamese Dream was the soundtrack to my high school years and Hummer is the song that takes me back there in the most potent way,” Parker said. Stream Hummer here.
Elsewhere on the set, Yonaka, The Midnight, Carpenter Brut, Barns Courtney, Meg Myers, Palaye Royale, Between The Buried and Me, Alice Glass, Starbenders, Nita Strauss, Bones UK, Moon Taxi, Des Rocs and Urban Heat all take on different sides of the band’s catalogue, from the catalogue’s bruising guitar-work to its more widescreen, melodic moments.
