A rhythm and blues groove with a falsetto lead
Jealous Lover is described as being anchored by a falsetto lead vocal from Mick Jagger, with the song’s lyric casting a pointed warning towards an overly inquisitive lover. Musically, it draws on the band’s long-running connection with rhythm and blues, placing the focus on warm keys, tight guitar interplay and a deep rhythm section.
Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood handle electric guitars on the track, while Darryl Jones plays bass and Steve Jordan provides drums and percussion. Steve Winwood adds Rhodes and organ, with producer Andrew Watt contributing electric guitar, acoustic guitar, synthesisers and piano. Matt Clifford also appears on synthesisers.
Foreign Tongues is released on 10 July via Polydor/Universal Music.
