Twat Union bring sofa confidence to new single TV BIKINY and London co-headline date
Twat Union have released their new single TV BIKINY, a ragged, wry punk cut taking aim at body standards and the uneasy shift between feeling at home in your own skin and stepping outside into public view.
Released on 23 July via Alcopop! Records, the track is the six-piece’s first new material since May’s Period Sex, which featured on their latest EP Don’t Blame The Peach. Recorded by vocalist Kate Mac and producer Jonny Firth, with Firth handling the mix and Izzy McPhee mastering, TV BIKINY turns an afternoon on the sofa into a statement of defiance.

“TV BIKINY is about body standards, and the absolute joy of sprawling on the sofa watching gloriously trashy TV,” Mac says. “It’s our version of a summer banger, and it’s about doing absolutely nothing.”
She continues: “It’s also poking at that weird gap between how comfy we feel in our bodies when we’re lounging around at home versus when we have to take those same bodies out into the world. We want everyone to smuggle a bit of that sofa confidence into real life.”
A co-headline night at The Lexington
Twat Union have also confirmed an October co-headline show with Northern Irish punk outfit Problem Patterns. The Alcopop! labelmates will take over London’s The Lexington on 10 October, following a summer that has included appearances at 2000trees and Back Doune The Rabbit Hole.

“The twats are SO excited to share the stage with Problem Patterns at The Lexington in October,” the band say. “We’ll be bringing even more props and even more outfit changes!”
Before then, the group are due to appear at TRUCK Festival on 24 July. Tickets for the London date and further live information are available here.
