Electric Callboy bring EDM and metalcore energy to My Hero Academia’s You Say Run
Electric Callboy have joined composer Yuki Hayashi for a new version of You Say Run, the much-loved soundtrack piece from My Hero Academia, released as part of the anime’s 10th-anniversary celebrations.
Credited as You Say Run -10th Anniversary Ver.-, the new recording places the German electronicore band’s dual-vocal attack alongside Hayashi’s original orchestral arrangement. It is available worldwide now and was performed live at the My Hero Academia IN CONCERT event in London on 20 September.
The collaboration arrived after Hayashi developed a version of the composition with English lyrics. Toho’s music team subsequently sought performers capable of matching the explosive dynamics of the series, bringing Kevin Ratajczak and Nico Sallach into the project.
Electric Callboy take on an anime soundtrack staple
Ratajczak said: “We are beyond excited to have this opportunity to add our vocals to You Say Run. The melody of You Say Run is so powerful and uplifting — we just absolutely love this song!”
Sallach added: “Working on this track was pure fun, and it was a huge honour to collaborate on it. We can’t wait for everyone to hear it! We really hope you’re as excited for it as we are.”
The recording retains the sweeping, high-drama foundation of Hayashi’s original while introducing the band’s electronic production, sharp vocal hooks and heavier rhythmic charge. It marks a particularly natural fit for a track long associated with the anime’s defining action sequences.
Hayashi said: “You Say Run, one of the signature tracks representing My Hero Academia, has been reborn with an unprecedented surge of energy by fusing with the incredible vocals of Electric Callboy. I am deeply honoured and thrilled to share this special sound born from the intersection of our shared energy.”
A new Deku illustration accompanies the release
Bones Film has also unveiled a new illustration of Izuku Midoriya, aka Deku, delivering a “SMASH” in an image that nods to the cover artwork for the first season’s original soundtrack.
Hayashi said: “I truly hope the song crosses borders and genres, reaches as many hearts as possible, and resonates passionately with everyone. And while the track is absolute perfection, the cover art is top-tier too! Plus Ultra!”
The release forms part of the wider My Hero Academia The Animation 10th Anniversary project, with further details set to appear via the official anniversary website.
