What Lies Below begin their Solid State Records era with Return To Nothing
Pennsylvania metalcore outfit What Lies Below have signed to Solid State Records and unveiled their first release for the label, the heavy new single Return To Nothing.
The track arrives as the band continue their European tour with Acres, having recently completed the UK leg of the run. Built around crushing riffs, melodic hooks and a stark emotional centre, Return To Nothing follows What Lies Below’s 2026 album I Let It Consume Me and points towards further new material planned for 2027.

Vocalist Andrew Watson says: “Return to Nothing is written from the perspective of escaping the dark of I Let It Consume Me. The lyrics explore the struggle to escape a life weighed down by grief, isolation and the burdens of the past. They follow a journey from darkness and despair toward awakening, with cracks in the darkness revealing glimpses of hope and a way forward.”
A new label chapter
Return To Nothing balances Andrew Watson’s harsher vocal delivery with clean passages and an arrangement that moves between dense metallic weight and more open, melodic sections. It is the first marker of the band’s move to Solid State Records after their releases through Theoria Records, including Darker Colors (Deluxe).
The band have also shared an official video for the single. Watch the video here.
