Tony Iommi unleashes From The Dark with new Over The Violent Sun lyric video

Tony Iommi has released his new album, From The Dark, via BMG worldwide, sharing a lyric video for its opening track, Over The Violent Sun, to mark the record’s arrival.

The eight-track album finds Iommi joined by vocalist Jorn Lande, who shares writing credits across the record. Bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil complete the line-up, while Iommi co-produced the album with long-standing collaborator Mike Exeter.

Over The Violent Sun sets the tone with a heavy, riff-led opening statement, with the new lyric video now available to watch online. Watch the video here.

A new chapter in Iommi’s riff arsenal

From The Dark has arrived to a strong early critical response. Classic Rock called it “absolute killer, gold-standard Iommi”, while Metal Hammer said the guitarist’s “preternatural ingenuity and wrought iron grooves” remain firmly intact.

The Daily Telegraph described the record as “thunderous”, highlighting the crunching guitar work that helped define the sound of heavy metal, while Kerrang! called it “a reaffirmation of the man’s elemental power and enduring importance”.
