Saxon unleash Medusa and expand 2027 Gods of Thunder tour

“A step into the world of Greek mythology Medusa, a god who could turn you to stone with a glance! Epic metal, epic story!”

Saxon bring Greek mythology to heavy metal with new single Medusa and 2027 tour dates

Saxon have released Medusa, the second single from their forthcoming album Gods of Thunder, while confirming a further run of European dates for their 2027 world tour.

The new track follows the album’s title track and takes its cue from the Gorgon of Greek mythology. Built around a hard-edged riff and the band’s familiar twin-guitar attack, Medusa finds frontman Biff Byford turning the ancient tale into a full-blooded slice of traditional heavy metal.

“A step into the world of Greek mythology Medusa, a god who could turn you to stone with a glance! Epic metal, epic story! Enjoy,” Byford says.

Watch and listen to Medusa here.

Gods of Thunder arrives in January

Gods of Thunder is due for release on 22 January 2027 through Silver Lining Music. The record was produced by Byford and mixed by Andy Sneap, whose recent work includes albums by Judas Priest, Exodus and Accept.

The album will be released on vinyl, CD, digital formats and a selection of bundles. Pre-order the album here.
