Carnifex unveil More Than Misery and The Process Of Pain video featuring Chaney Crabb
Carnifex have released their new album More Than Misery via Sumerian Records, accompanied by an official video for The Process Of Pain, featuring Entheos vocalist Chaney Crabb.
The 10-track record finds the California heavyweights confronting trauma, isolation, toxic relationships and survival with the blunt-force intensity that has long defined their work. Rather than writing from inside those experiences, vocalist Scott Ian Lewis describes the album as a reckoning with what remains after them.

“Carnifex as a band are more driven and focused than ever and More Than Misery isn’t just an album,” Lewis says. “It’s a statement of survival and a decent into the darkness of living with and surviving past trauma. We wrote this album to be a reminder, that the only way out is through. This album was meant to be listened to start to finish. Deep dive the lyrics, become more than your past, become More Than Misery.”
A record built for the live room
Recorded in Tennessee over five to six weeks with Whitechapel guitarist Zach Householder, More Than Misery was mixed by Jeff Dunne and marks Carnifex’s first full-length for Sumerian Records. The album brings together deathcore’s physical impact with blackened atmosphere, orchestral flourishes and a greater emphasis on lead guitar.
The Process Of Pain puts that collision into sharp focus, with Crabb joining the band for one of the album’s most severe tracks. Watch the video here.
