Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds bring a four-day Resident takeover to Brighton around Preston Park show

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will take over Brighton independent record shop Resident for four days this summer, coinciding with the band’s UK-exclusive headline show at Preston Park on Friday 31 July.

Running from Thursday 30 July until Sunday 2 August, the Resident takeover will bring a Bad Seeds merchandise pop-up to the shop, alongside catalogue discounts, giveaways and a limited-edition vinyl release, with further details still to be announced.

The pop-up will also carry a selection designed specifically for the Brighton date, available only at Resident and at Preston Park. That range includes an exclusive Resident collaboration tote bag, alongside classic Bad Seeds and Cave Things items.

A post box for The Red Hand Files

One of the more unusual elements of the takeover will be a dedicated post box allowing visitors to send physical letters to Cave’s The Red Hand Files, the long-running correspondence project in which he responds to questions and reflections from fans.

The shop event forms part of a wider programme across Brighton as Cave returns to the city where he lived for more than two decades. The Preston Park concert will see the Bad Seeds joined by The Flaming Lips, English Teacher, Cate Le Bon and Warmduscher.

The live line-up for the headline show includes Cave, Warren Ellis, Colin Greenwood, Jim Sclavunos, George Vjestica, Larry Mullins and Carly Paradis.

Cave’s film picks arrive at Duke of York’s

Elsewhere across the weekend, Cave will curate a run of screenings at Brighton’s Duke of York’s Cinema. The programme comprises five films said to have inspired and shaped his songwriting, with each screening featuring a recorded introduction from Cave.

More information on the cinema series is available via Picturehouse Cinemas, while details of the Preston Park event can be found at the official Nick Cave Brighton website.
