OVERSIZE launch a new chapter with Separate and October UK tour dates
OVERSIZE have released their new single Separate, marking the first music from the South West alt-shoegaze band to feature new vocalist Nick Nowak.
Released via SharpTone Records, the track arrives a year after the band’s debut album Vital Signs and leans into the blurred edges between shoegaze atmosphere, weighty grunge guitars and post-hardcore intensity. Separate was written at the last minute before the group entered the studio, but quickly earned its place in the sessions.
The band said: “We’re incredibly excited to start this new chapter, not just with a new member but also with a new creative outlook, after releasing our debut record we have a much better understanding of who we are as musicians and as a band – and we’re so happy to share a little part of what we’ve been working on.
“This first single was actually the last song we wrote before heading into the studio to record, we finished it about a week before and despite thinking we had our minds set on which tracks we were going to track, it was abundantly clear we had to do this one, that’s just the way it goes sometimes I guess!”
A late addition that made the cut
Nowak joins guitarists Lewis Lennane-Emm and Tazz Edwards, bassist George Lewis and drummer Sam Shutler as the band move into their next phase. Separate follows a debut record that established OVERSIZE’s taste for melodic haze and abrasive, fuzzed-out riffs without simply recreating their 1990s influences.
UK dates with The Devil Wears Prada
OVERSIZE will take the new single on the road next month as part of The Devil Wears Prada’s European and UK tour. Novelists and 156/Silence complete the bill, with five UK dates running from Bristol to Birmingham.
