P.O.D. bring zombie apocalypse chaos to new single OUTBREAK featuring Cory Brandan
P.O.D. have released new single OUTBREAK, a suitably frantic slice of heavy rock featuring Cory Brandan of Norma Jean. The track arrives via Mascot Records alongside an official video that drops the band into a zombie apocalypse scenario.
Produced by Grammy-winning producer Will Yip, whose credits include Turnstile, Code Orange and Circa Survive, OUTBREAK is P.O.D.’s first original material since 2024 album VERITAS. Its jagged riffs, alarm-like samples and apocalyptic imagery push the band towards one of their most punishing recent recordings.

A guest vocal built for the heavier end
The collaboration grew from P.O.D. and Norma Jean’s US tour together in 2024. Vocalist Sonny Sandoval said the run gave the two bands a chance to properly connect.
“We have known the band and members for a while, but that was the first time we toured together and really got the chance to bond as friends,” Sandoval said.
He added: “This is possibly one of the heaviest songs P.O.D. has ever written, so we wanted to showcase a guest vocalist who reflected that. Cory’s voice and tone bring a specific intensity and command that draws you in. Our voices together deliver an authoritative energy that matches the power of the song.”
Guitarist Marcos Curiel said the song’s premise emerged from the band’s shared enthusiasm for dystopian fiction. “As avid fans of zombie apocalypse, video games, and movies, it seemed only fitting to compose a song about this topic,” he said. “The song delicately straddles the line between nonfiction and fiction. It’s fun yet hard-hitting, bridging the gap between what’s real and what’s not.”
Sandoval recalled receiving Curiel’s early demo under the working title OUTBREAK. “The guitar riff and warning sample immediately gave me a frantic, apocalyptic, doomsday-type vibe,” he said.
Festival dates continue through 2026
The new single lands as P.O.D. continue a busy international live schedule, following a summer European festival run spanning 20 events in 16 countries. The remaining 2026 dates take in the US, Mexico and Australia, including Aftershock, Sick New World and Good Things Festival appearances.
