Rob Zombie unveils stark Tarantula video as The Great Satan lands
Rob Zombie has released the official video for Tarantula, a performance-focused cut from his latest studio album, The Great Satan, out now on Nuclear Blast Records. The new clip strips away any sense of spectacle in favour of a blunt, high-contrast visual, with Zombie and his band bathed in harsh yellow light as they hammer through the song.
The video keeps its focus on the performance rather than narrative flourishes, which suits a track that already arrives with a scuffed-up, teeth-bared pace. There is no gloss here, just a camera locked on the band as they power through the song with the kind of precision and abrasion that has long defined Zombie’s heavier work.
The Great Satan arrived earlier this year as Zombie’s first studio album in five years, and the record folds in a run of particularly punchy cuts including Punks and Demons, Heathen Days, (I’m a) Rock ‘N’ Roller, F.T.W. 84, The Black Scorpion and Tarantula. The album leans back into the nastier, more chaotic end of Zombie’s sound, with 15 tracks that swap polish for momentum and sharp-edged hooks.
