The Chats set Half Cut album for March as new single Off It lands
The Chats have announced their third studio album, Half Cut, due for release on 5 March 2027 via Virgin Music Group.
The Australian trio have also shared the record’s opening track, Off It, a short, sharp blast of characteristically ragged punk rock accompanied by an equally chaotic official video.
Half Cut follows 2022’s Get Fucked and was recorded at Maple Sound Studio in Los Angeles with Frenzal Rhomb’s Jay Whalley. While the band’s trademark Australian vernacular remains firmly intact in titles including Half Arsed, Hanging Shit and Brown Bottle Flu, the new record is said to take in more reflective territory alongside its usual tales of hangovers, confrontation and general chaos.
A little more open
Vocalist Eamon Sandwith said: “Half Cut is a fun rock and roll record, but it’s maybe a little more open than stuff we’ve written in the past. I definitely hesitate to use the word ‘mature,’ but it’s a bit of a progression, I’d say.”
The album announcement arrives after a busy period of live shows for the trio, including North American dates with Social Distortion and Descendents, plus appearances at Coachella in 2026.
Alongside the record, The Chats have confirmed an October 2027 run through Ireland and the UK, culminating in three consecutive nights at London’s Electric Ballroom.
