The Molotovs announce Welcome To Urbia as new UK headline tour begins
The Molotovs have announced their second album, Welcome To Urbia, due for release on 9th April 2027 via Marshall Records.
The record arrives just six months after the sibling duo’s debut, Wasted On Youth, reached No. 3 in the UK album charts. Its first single, Urbia, is released on 4th September, with limited-edition CD and cassette editions now available alongside vinyl and streaming pre-orders.
Recorded at north London’s Konk Studios and produced by Tony Hoffer, Urbia points towards a more industrial, driving edge for Matt and Issey Cartlidge. The track was written shortly before the pair entered the studio, giving the recording an immediate, unsettled energy.
Matt Cartlidge said: “When I wrote it, it just immediately felt like something different and was steering in the direction that I wanted to go for this next album. I really wanted to shake it up.
“My influences have also broadened, the more we played. When we went into the studio, I’d only recently written it so it was all pretty fresh – it’s got a real energy.”
Issey added: “It really blossoms. It’s quite moody and driving, quite industrial, and then you get to the chorus that kind of opens up. It’s sweet.”
A new record shaped by the road
Urbia takes its name and atmosphere from the towns encountered across the duo’s extensive live schedule. The Molotovs say the song was shaped by the experience of constant touring, with the band having played close to 700 shows over the past five years.
The album announcement lands as their Welcome To Urbia UK headline tour gets under way. Most dates have already sold out, while remaining tickets are available for Glasgow, Leeds and the second night at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town.
They will also join Razorlight for selected dates later this year, including a show at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on 4th December.
