Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats open the crypt with House By The Grave
Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats have released House By The Grave, the first single from their forthcoming seventh album, Shapes Of Midnight.
The track arrives with a video and serves as the opening chapter of the band’s new record, which is due on 18 September via Killer Candy Records.
Kevin Starrs said: “This is one of my favourite songs that we’ve ever done and the perfect way to open up the album. ‘Yonder stands the sinner!’ really sums it all up.”

A new midnight tale
Shapes Of Midnight is described as a macabre concept album influenced in part by Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque Of The Red Death, with its themes also drawing on contemporary anxieties. The record continues the band’s blend of close harmonies, acid-flecked hooks, twin-guitar melodies and ominous heaviness.
The album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios over three days, tracked live to analogue tape with engineer Chris Bolster. Grammy-nominated mastering engineer Noel Summerville, whose credits include The White Stripes, The Clash and My Bloody Valentine, completed the mastering.
The eight-track album opens with House By The Grave and includes the title track, When Evil Wakes and Sleep No More.
- House By The Grave
- Shapes Of Midnight
- When Evil Wakes
- Don’t Let It Control You
- Psycho On The Loose
- I Won’t Sleep (’til You’re Gone)
- The Other Side Of The Sky
- Sleep No More
