Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats announce Shapes Of Midnight and UK tour

“Our albums exist in an alternate universe to our own. They’re all stories that could happen here, but everything’s just a bit ‘off’.”

Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats set Shapes Of Midnight album for September release with UK dates confirmed

Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats have announced their seventh album, Shapes Of Midnight, due for release on 18 September through Killer Candy Records.

The Cambridge outfit have also shared the record’s title track, a shadowy introduction to a new concept album partly inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque Of The Red Death and contemporary nightmares. The track continues the band’s collision of twisted pop melody, twin-guitar heavy rock and unsettling atmospherics. Listen to and purchase Shapes Of Midnight via Bandcamp.

An alternate universe of hooks and horror

Following 2024’s synth-led imaginary Giallo soundtrack Nell’ Ora Blu, the new record is described as a return to a more guitar-driven approach, while stretching into jazzy arrangements, NWOBHM charge and damaged, Krautrock-leaning synth textures.

“Our albums exist in an alternate universe to our own,” says songwriter Kevin Starrs. “They’re all stories that could happen here, but everything’s just a bit ‘off’.”

Shapes Of Midnight was recorded live to analogue tape at Abbey Road Studios during a three-day session with engineer Chris Bolster. Mastering was handled by Noel Summerville, whose previous credits include The White Stripes, The Clash and My Bloody Valentine.

The eight-track album includes the title track alongside House by the Grave, When Evil Wakes and Sleep No More.
