WREX Announce Biggest Headline Tour Yet
Brighton-based alt-rock duo WREX have announced their biggest headline tour so far, with a run of UK dates this September and October, followed by their first-ever headline shows in Europe.
The tour begins at Underground Alt in Blackpool on 24th September, before the band head through Stockport, London, Birmingham, Frome, Sheffield, Leeds and Glasgow. From there, WREX will take their sharp-edged, emotionally charged sound across the continent for shows in Bruges, Kassel, Herford, Warsaw, Prague, Vienna, Frankfurt, Augsburg and Luxembourg.
A Big Year For An Independent Band
The announcement lands during a packed live year for WREX, who have already clocked up an impressive run of shows and festival appearances. They have recently been added to the Bloodstock Festival line-up, with further appearances at Burn It Down, Loud Women Festival and more.
For a completely independent band, the pace is striking. Since forming in Brighton in 2020, vocalist Mae Seaton and guitarist/co-vocalist George Donoghue have built WREX from a two-person project into a live force, sharpening their sound on stages across the UK while supporting acts including The Hunna and Hacktivist.
SADWORLD Brings The Darkness Into Focus
The tour follows the release of WREX’s latest EP, SADWORLD, a five-track blast of alt-rock intensity that digs into uncertainty, anxiety and self-doubt while still leaving space for flickers of hope.
It continues the themes explored on their 2024 debut EP, This Hell Goes A Long Way Down, which tackled isolation, panic attacks, social media suffocation and childhood trauma. This time, WREX widen the lens, turning personal struggle into something more communal and outward-facing.
Reflecting on their journey, vocalist Mae shares, “The last year has been about getting out there and pushing ourselves – playing as much as we can, meeting people, and feeling that connection in real time. We’ve played 54 shows over the last year, and that’s completely changed our perspective. This project started with two people and a laptop, so being in those rooms night after night has forced us out of our own heads, stripped something back, and let the songs take on a different weight once they’re shared with other people. This EP is about taking our personal experiences and opening them up in a way that other people can identify with. Our prior writing was very focused on the self; SADWORLD is more of a reflection on the impact of the world in its current state, and on the community”.
