Miss May I share emotionally charged new single Hand Me A Halo ahead of No Place For Me
Miss May I have released Hand Me A Halo, a new single from their forthcoming album No Place For Me, due out on 2 October through Solid State Records.
The track arrives with an official video and finds the Ohio metalcore band leaning into the heavier, more inward-looking themes set to run through the new record. Built around punishing guitar work, melodic lift and Levi Benton’s impassioned vocal, Hand Me A Halo addresses disorientation, intrusive thoughts and the feeling of becoming detached from yourself.
“Hand Me A Halo tells the self-narrative of losing one’s sense of self and dealing with the intrusive thoughts that come with it,” says Benton. “This song came from our own confusion and loss of identity through the changing seasons of life. The fear can be constant, leaving you to question if you just want someone to hand you a halo.”
A record shaped by anxiety and self-doubt
No Place For Me was written with longtime producer Nick Sampson and is set to explore identity, anxiety, self-doubt and belonging across 10 tracks. Benton has described the album as a direct attempt to make space for difficult feelings rather than conceal them.
“We stopped and asked ourselves, ‘What are we actually trying to say as artists?’” Benton reflects. “The goal is for the music to be therapeutic. It’s okay to have a breakdown. You aren’t alone. You don’t have to hold it all in. I hope our latest album can meet you where you are.”
