Amon Amarth release The Allfather Awakens and prepare to bring new production to the UK

Amon Amarth have released their new album, The Allfather Awakens, via Metal Blade Records, alongside a visualiser for its title track.

The ten-track record arrives ahead of the Swedish metal veterans’ UK and European tour, which opens at Manchester’s O2 Apollo on 9 October before heading to London and Wolverhampton. Orbit Culture and Soilwork will join the run as support.

The Allfather Awakens continues the band’s long-running fascination with Norse mythology, with Oden once again serving as a central presence across its songs and artwork. Rather than a strict concept album, the record is described as a collection of tales centred on conflict, sacrifice and the search for a greater good.

The title track carries the album’s broader theme, with vocalist Johan Hegg stating: “Wisdom, knowledge and facts need to become the guide for the future.”

The record also includes Upphaf, billed as Amon Amarth’s first acoustic recording, while previous singles Gjallarhorn and Eight Legs Of Thunder sit alongside the newly unveiled The Allfather Awakes. The band recorded the album in two sessions at producer Jacob Hansen’s Denmark studio, adopting a more traditional guitar approach by moving away from 5150 amplifiers in favour of Marshalls.
