Amon Amarth unleash Eight Legs Of Thunder video and UK tour dates

“With Eight Legs Of Thunder, together with the band, we wanted to break the traditional metal music video mould once again.”

Amon Amarth bring Sleipnir to a modern western in Eight Legs Of Thunder video

Amon Amarth have released the video for new single Eight Legs Of Thunder, the final preview of their forthcoming album The Allfather Awakens.

Built around a galloping riff and a broad, chant-ready chorus, the track draws on the Norse tale of Sleipnir, Odin’s eight-legged horse. Rather than staging the mythology in an expected historical setting, the accompanying clip transports it into a dusty contemporary American western, complete with cowboys, pickup trucks and long open roads. Sleipnir appears through a surreal dream sequence that brings the old tale crashing into a different kind of frontier.

Director Dariusz Szermanowicz said: “With Eight Legs Of Thunder, together with the band, we wanted to break the traditional metal music video mould once again. We fused the raw, dusty vibe of a modern western with the epic, dark mythology of Odin’s eight-legged steed. It’s a high-octane, cinematic ride packed with cowboy tension, raw action, and a touch of dark humour. We didn’t just want to make a music video – we wanted to deliver a visual knockout.”

A new record shaped on the road

The Allfather Awakens arrives on 2 October via Metal Blade Records. Recorded across two sessions at producer Jacob Hansen’s studio in Denmark, the ten-track album was developed while the band were touring, with the material written before the lyrics were added.

The record continues Amon Amarth’s fascination with Norse history and mythology, though it is described as a collection of separate stories centred on conflict, sacrifice and the pursuit of a greater good rather than a full concept album. The band also reportedly shifted their guitar approach away from 5150 amplifiers and back towards Marshall gear for a less modern sound.

The album follows previous singles Gjallarhorn, We Rule The Waves and the group’s first acoustic track, Upphaf.
