Bloodstock 2027 unveils Mercyful Fate, Electric Callboy and Motionless In White as headliners
Bloodstock Open Air has announced its first 27 acts for 2027, with Mercyful Fate, Electric Callboy and Motionless In White set to headline the Ronnie James Dio main stage at Catton Park.
The Derbyshire festival will return between 5 and 8 August 2027. The first wave was revealed during Bloodstock 2026, following Municipal Waste’s set, and covers the headline slots across both the Ronnie James Dio and Sophie Lancaster stages.
Mercyful Fate will lead Friday’s main-stage bill, with King Diamond confirming that the Danish outfit expect to have a new album in circulation by the time they arrive at Catton Park.
“Mercyful Fate is honoured and looking extremely forward to playing Bloodstock again; last time was awesome, and this time with a brand new album out, FINALLY!!!” he said.

Electric Callboy take Saturday’s headline slot for their first Bloodstock appearance, while Motionless In White will close the festival on Sunday with what Chris Motionless has described as the band’s first European festival headline performance and their only UK show of 2027.

“Bloodstock! We were told that we are one of the most requested bands to perform at your legendary festival, so it is with great honour to announce that we are answering the call and will be seeing you next year for our first ever European festival headlining show, and only U.K. show of 2027!” Motionless said.

Headliners across the Ronnie James Dio and Sophie Lancaster stages
Alongside the main-stage headliners, the Sophie Lancaster stage will be topped by New York hardcore veterans Madball on Thursday, Portugal’s Gaerea on Friday, German blackened death metal project Kanonfieber on Saturday, and animated death metal institution Dethklok on Sunday.
Friday’s Ronnie James Dio special guest slot belongs to Louisiana sludge trailblazers Acid Bath, with London occult rock band Green Lung taking the equivalent Saturday position. Sunday will see Children of Bodom return to celebrate the music and legacy of late frontman Alexi Laiho.
A sprawling first wave for Catton Park
The broader announcement reaches across death metal, doom, hardcore, grindcore and power metal. Returning names include DevilDriver, Corrosion of Conformity, Imminence, Wind Rose, Sylosis, Decapitated, Witch Club Satan, HammerFall, Hypocrisy, The Halo Effect, Tortured Demon, Gutalax, Humanity’s Last Breath and Liverpool doom trio Conan.
The Sophie Lancaster stage’s first confirmed lower-bill acts are Dutch dark-rock collective Dool, US grindcore outfit Pig Destroyer and Italian horror-obsessed death metal band Fulci.
Bloodstock has said that around 100 more bands are still to be announced for the 2027 edition.
